Two New Jersey Powerball players win $1 million as jackpot climbs to $1.3 billion
TRENTON, NJ – Two Powerball tickets sold in New Jersey each hit for $1 million in Monday night’s drawing, while a third ticket in the state brought home a $150,000 prize, and eight more won $50,000 each as the jackpot rolls to an estimated $1.3 billion.
The two $1 million winning tickets matched all five white balls but not the red Power Ball. One of the winning tickets was purchased through the lottery courier service Jackpocket, while the other was sold at P&G Fuel, located at 1050 Milford Warren Glen Road in Milford, Hunterdon County.
The $150,000 winning ticket was sold at Limonta Liquors, 293 Vernon Avenue in Clifton, Passaic County. That ticket included the Power Play multiplier option, which increased the standard $50,000 prize to $150,000.
The winning numbers for the August 31 drawing were 08, 23, 25, 40, and 53, with the Power Ball 05 and a Power Play multiplier of 03.
New Jersey was the only state with more than one $1 million winner in the drawing, which saw a total of 10 million-dollar winners nationwide. While no player won the jackpot, the next drawing on Wednesday now features a grand prize estimated at $1.3 billion.
In the separate Double Play drawing, which offers a top prize of $10 million, the winning numbers were 01, 15, 26, 48, and 67, with the Double Play ball 19.
