Baltimore man lands 100000 top prize on 50X the Cash scratch off

BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore corrections officer who typically bought only $1 scratch-offs turned a co-worker’s advice into a $100,000 win after deciding to try higher-priced tickets during a routine stop after a haircut.

The winner purchased $50 worth of scratch-offs at the Travel Centers of America at 7401 Assateague Drive in Jessup, including two $10 50X the Cash tickets. While on break at work, he scratched the tickets and uncovered a 10X symbol over a $10,000 prize, making it a $100,000 top-tier win.

Unsure at first, he scanned the ticket three separate times using the Maryland Lottery app before realizing the prize was legitimate. Once confirmed, he said he jumped in excitement and immediately called his mother to share the news.

The winner, a 26-year veteran corrections officer, said he plans to put the money into savings and use some of it to take a few travel vacations, something he enjoys.

Travel Centers of America will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The $10 50X the Cash game launched on January 9 and is part of the X the Cash family of scratch-offs ranging from $1 to $30. Players can enter non-winning tickets for a chance to win additional cash prizes up to $75,000, with the first drawing scheduled for February 17.
