Teen thrown from wreck as tanker truck collision halts Sunday traffic

High impact crash on Crain Highway leaves teen critically hurt

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — A Sunday afternoon wreck on Crain Highway left a teenager in critical condition and three others hospitalized after a collision involving a tanker truck, according to Maryland State Police.

Crews were called at 2:16 p.m. to the intersection of Crain Highway and Old Central Avenue, where they found several damaged vehicles and a tanker truck requiring a hazmat response to secure its contents. First responders worked to stabilize the scene while treating multiple injured occupants.

Investigators said the force of the collision threw a teenage male from one of the vehicles. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition. A young girl and a woman were also transported; the girl sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The tanker driver was evaluated and taken for further care.

Maryland State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
