RARITAN BOROUGH, N.J. – A Raritan Borough resident and school paraprofessional has been arrested on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material following an investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald said Nicholas Cringoli, 52, was taken into custody Tuesday morning after investigators executed a search warrant at his home. Authorities say the investigation was initiated after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) notified law enforcement of an apparent upload of exploitative images.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit, as part of the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, conducted a forensic analysis of Cringoli’s electronic devices. Prosecutors say the devices contained multiple images depicting the sexual exploitation of children.
Cringoli, who is employed as a paraprofessional and middle school wrestling coach in Franklin Township, has been charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held at the Somerset County Jail pending a court appearance.
The investigation is ongoing, according to authorities, and additional details have not been disclosed.
