DC woman charged after road rage clash ends with pedestrian struck by car
Washington, DC – A woman is facing felony charges after a heated road rage encounter in Northwest DC ended with a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle and hospitalized with severe injuries, police confirmed Tuesday.
The incident happened just after 12:45 a.m. on Friday, July 18, in the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Officers responded to reports of a crash and discovered an adult female victim who had been hit by a car following an altercation between drivers. The woman was conscious and breathing but sustained significant injuries. She was transported by DC Fire and EMS to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators determined the confrontation began after a minor traffic collision involving two vehicles. A verbal dispute broke out between the drivers, which escalated when one of the drivers allegedly used her car as a weapon and struck a pedestrian connected to the other vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene.
After weeks of investigation, 24-year-old Crystal Carter of Northwest DC was arrested on August 20 and charged with Assault With A Dangerous Weapon.
Police have not released the current condition of the victim, and the case remains under investigation.
