ROCKVILLE, Md. — The Rockville City Police Department has heightened patrols around synagogues, houses of worship, and community centers following a series of hate-motivated killings in Washington, D.C. earlier this week.
The department announced the move on social media Friday, stating it is taking “these concerns seriously” and working closely with faith-based and community leaders to maintain public safety and provide support.
“In light of the tragic, hate-based killings in Washington, D.C. this week, the Rockville City Police Department is actively working to ensure the safety of our community,” the statement read.
Residents are encouraged to report any hate or bias-related incidents through Montgomery County’s online reporting portal, which remains open to the public for confidential submissions.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all residents and visitors.

Officials said outreach efforts are underway to keep communication open with religious and civic groups across the city. The increased police presence will remain in effect as needed while authorities monitor regional developments.
