Reports indicated that Cartagena left the scene on a scooter shortly after the children boarded their bus. Following an investigation by District B-2 Detectives, Cartagena was taken into custody and is expected to face charges of Open & Gross Lewdness in West Roxbury District Court.

MATTAPAN, MA — Detectives from the Civil Rights Unit have charged five individuals in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred at 550 River Street. The suspects have been formally charged and arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Franklin Francois, 51, from Randolph, faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Woopenson Morisset, 30, from Boston, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

Gardy Exantus, 33, from Mattapan, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as assault and battery. Maurice Payne, 37, from Brockton, also faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

BOSTON, MA – Officers from Districts B-2 (Roxbury), B-3 (Mattapan), C-6 (South Boston), and C-11 (Dorchester), along with recruits from Boston Police Academy Class 66-25, participated in the Special Olympics Polar Plunge. The event occurred in chilly waters in the Seaport.

The officers joined the plunge in support of Special Olympics, which promotes inclusion, awareness, and unity through sports. Some officers participated in full uniform.

This event fostered camaraderie among officers and recruits, as well as the athletes of the Special Olympics. A spokesperson expressed gratitude to Special Olympics for hosting the event and recognized the partnership with police officers citywide.
