Woman struck and killed in Eastern Avenue hit-and-run

Washington, DC – A Saturday night on Eastern Avenue turned fatal for a 40-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a fleeing driver in a black SUV, leaving a Northeast D.C. community searching for answers.

Angela Boston, a resident of Northeast, was in the southeast-bound lane of the 1100 block of Eastern Avenue around 9:58 p.m. on September 6 when she was hit by an unidentified vehicle. Responding emergency crews found her conscious and breathing, but suffering from severe injuries consistent with a vehicular impact.

DC Fire and EMS transported her to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save her, she was later pronounced dead.

Investigators say the vehicle that struck her—a black SUV with tinted windows—did not stop at the scene and has not yet been located. Detectives from the Major Crash Investigations Unit are reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area for any witnesses or tips that could help identify the vehicle or the driver.

The crash took place on a dimly lit stretch of Eastern Avenue that borders the Northeast neighborhood. Authorities have not confirmed whether Boston was attempting to cross the street, standing in traffic, or experiencing a breakdown at the time she was hit.

This fatal incident remains under investigation, and police are urging anyone with information to contact them directly or via the anonymous text tip line.
