Delaware State Police Pursue and Arrest Newark Resident for Drug and Traffic Offenses
**Newark, DE** – The Delaware State Police took 26-year-old Savon Roy of Newark into custody for several drug and traffic charges after a pursuit on Monday afternoon.
On Monday at approximately 1:45 p.m., a trooper identified a gray Ford Fusion with a fictitious Delaware temporary tag on East Chestnut Hill Road near Marrows Road in Newark. Upon confirming the tag’s false registration, the trooper attempted a traffic stop. The driver ignored the stop and accelerated into Brookside Plaza Shopping Center before driving over a curb, across a grassy area, and onto Marrows Road. The vehicle continued moving at high speed onto Kensington Lane before stopping on Korda Drive, where Roy fled on foot but was soon captured.
While in custody, Roy experienced a medical emergency and was taken to a hospital by EMS. During the investigation, remnants of an off-white powder were found in a ripped plastic bag concealed in Roy’s pants. Additionally, a vehicle search uncovered multiple bags containing approximately 61.5 grams of marijuana. A background check showed Roy had an outstanding arrest warrant from the New Castle County Police Department and other pending charges.

**Bear, DE** – The Delaware State Police have released the identity of the pedestrian who died in a crash on Tuesday. The victim was identified as 45-year-old Jose Reyes-Medina from Newark, Delaware.
