South End drug arrest uncovers fentanyl cocaine and cash

South End drug trafficking arrest follows street level investigation

Boston, MA – A street corner exchange in the South End drew the attention of officers Monday, leading to the arrest of a Mattapan man now facing multiple drug trafficking and distribution charges after investigators recovered fentanyl, cocaine, and cash.

The arrest occurred Monday, February 9, when officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District D-4 were conducting a drug investigation near Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street. Officers observed a man crouched low to the ground while a woman picked up an item from the area, placed it in her mouth, and walked away.

Investigators continued surveillance as a second person approached the man. Similar behavior was observed behind an electrical box, which officers believed was an attempt to conceal a street level drug transaction.

The suspect was followed as he walked toward a nearby bus kiosk. Officers approached, identified themselves, and attempted to detain him. He refused to place his hands behind his back and tensed his body before being placed into handcuffs after de-escalation techniques were used.
