Stamford Police investigating fatal accident involving front end loader at local business

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS) is investigating a fatal accident that occurred at a private business in Stamford on the morning of October 30. A 64-year-old Stamford resident died after being struck by a front-end loader operated by a 28-year-old resident of the same city.

The incident took place at approximately 8:13 a.m. while the victim was assisting a customer in the rear of the business. Emergency personnel from Stamford EMS and the Stamford Fire Department responded to the scene, and the victim was transported to Stamford Hospital. Despite extensive life-saving efforts, the victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified and responded to the scene, as the incident occurred at a workplace. OSHA will lead the investigation, with support from the Stamford Police Department, to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The investigation is being handled by Officers Lindsey Yanicky and Jill Moller from the Stamford PD’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the CARS unit at (203) 977-4712.

Further updates will be provided once investigations by OSHA and Stamford Police are complete.
