Staten Island, NY – An 11-year-old boy riding his bicycle early in the morning was surrounded and robbed by a group of five individuals on a residential Staten Island street, according to police. The suspects allegedly used a weapon to threaten the child before fleeing with his bike.

The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. on March 28 near Ramona Avenue and Lenevar Avenue within the 123rd Precinct. Authorities said the child was approached while riding his bicycle when the group converged on him.

Police said the group forcibly removed the boy from his bicycle during the encounter. “An 11-year-old male victim was on his bicycle in the vicinity of Ramona Avenue and Lenevar Avenue… when he was surrounded by five unidentified individuals,” NYPD Crimestoppers stated. “The individuals forcibly removed him off his bicycle, while one individual displayed a hammer and made verbal threats.”

After taking the bicycle, the suspects fled the area together. “The five unidentified individuals fled the location with the victim’s bicycle, traveling southbound on Lenevar Avenue to parts unknown,” police said.

The NYPD is urging anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects to come forward as the investigation continues.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline,” the department said.
