Boston, MA – A late-night robbery attempt in East Boston turned violent Tuesday when a teenage suspect allegedly stabbed a man who refused to hand over his belongings, prompting a swift police response and an on-scene arrest. The incident unfolded near a busy residential corridor, where witnesses intervened as the attack escalated.

Officers assigned to District A-7 responded at about 10:01 p.m. Tuesday to reports of an assault in progress near 11 Paris Street. Upon arrival, they found a male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds.
According to police, the victim reported being approached by two masked individuals who demanded his personal belongings, including a scooter. When he refused, the suspects allegedly began attacking him. The victim attempted to flee toward Sumner Street as the assault continued.
Witnesses in the area played a key role in stopping the attack. One individual exited his vehicle and intervened, managing to take a knife from one of the suspects before discarding it. Another witness reported seeing the suspects making stabbing motions toward the victim before both fled the scene.
Evidence recovered and suspect identified
During a search of the area, officers recovered two knives wrapped together with duct tape and a cell phone on a handicap ramp at the intersection of Sumner and Paris streets. Shortly after, one of the suspects returned to the scene claiming he was looking for his phone.
Police identified the individual as a 15-year-old Boston resident and took him into custody. During booking, officers recovered a ski mask among his belongings.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
The juvenile suspect is charged with aggravated assault and armed and masked robbery. Police have not announced whether a second suspect has been identified.
