LINDEN, N.J. — A 16-year-old boy is in custody following a late-night shooting Friday that left several vehicles damaged but no injuries reported, according to the Linden Police Department.

Officers responded just after 11 p.m. on April 25 to the area of Woodlawn Avenue following reports of gunfire. Authorities said a dispute among a group of juveniles escalated into multiple shots being fired.

Shortly after the shooting, police apprehended a 16-year-old male from Linden in connection with the incident. He was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, authorities said.

The teen remains in custody pending an appearance in Family Court, according to police.

Ongoing investigation after late-night violence

Linden Police confirmed that while no one was hurt during the incident, several vehicles in the area were damaged by gunfire. The motive behind the initial dispute between the juveniles was not immediately disclosed.

Detective Stephanie Diaz is leading the investigation and urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

The Linden Police Department said the investigation remains active and additional charges could be filed as more information becomes available.
