DELTONA, FL – A 16-year-old has been arrested following a violent incident on Thursday evening in Deltona, involving a group of juveniles. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a gunshot fired during a confrontation at the intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Merrimac Street.

Witnesses observed a suspect fleeing the scene, leading deputies to a quick pursuit and the discovery of a discarded ski mask, hoodie, and a Coach bag containing a 9mm handgun. The investigation identified Marcel Serrano, born on December 27, 2007, as the individual who pistol-whipped a 14-year-old and discharged a firearm during the altercation.

Marcel faces charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and tampering with evidence, following the recovery of the weapon and a shell casing linked to the incident.

Additionally, Marcel’s father, 36-year-old Marvin Serrano, was arrested for violating an active injunction that prohibited him from having unsupervised contact with his son. The arrest occurred after it was discovered that Marvin’s vehicle was used to transport Marcel away from the scene, leading to further police investigation at the family’s home.
