Teen gun suspect hauled in after bullets ripped through Charlestown building

Boston police say a 17 year old fired multiple shots into an occupied building before vanishing

BOSTON, Mass. — A 17-year-old Dorchester male wanted in a Charlestown shooting investigation was arrested Thursday evening after Boston police tracked him down on multiple firearm-related charges tied to a burst of gunfire that sent bullets tearing into a residential building earlier this month.

Members of the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force arrested the juvenile at approximately 5:40 p.m. in the area of Ocean Street in Dorchester.

Police said the teen was wanted on a felony warrant issued out of Suffolk County Juvenile Court.

The charges include assault and battery by means of a firearm, possession of a large capacity firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and vandalizing property.

According to investigators, the arrest stems from a May 11 shooting in Charlestown.

At approximately 2:25 p.m. that day, officers assigned to District A-1 responded to reports of shots fired near Bunker Hill Street and Walford Way.

When officers arrived, victims told police an unknown Black male fired multiple gunshots into a building located at 76 Monument Street.

Investigators said officers recovered 12 spent shell casings from inside the building and the surrounding area.

Police have not reported any injuries connected to the shooting.

Detectives assigned to District A-1 continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact District A-1 detectives at (617) 343-4248.
