HOBOKEN, NJ — A Hoboken man is facing a sweeping list of narcotics and weapons charges after investigators seized a handgun, large-capacity magazines and multiple drugs from his apartment during a court-authorized raid.

Members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics and Gangs Task Force, along with the Hoboken Police Department, arrested Alexander Armstead, 33, on Thursday following a narcotics investigation.

Authorities said a handgun, two large-capacity magazines and various narcotics were recovered from an apartment on Jackson Street in Hoboken. Three juveniles were present inside the residence when the search warrant was executed.

Armstead is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Person with a Prior NERA Conviction, Possession of a Firearm While Committing a CDS Offense and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm.

He also faces multiple drug-related charges, including possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and enhanced charges for alleged distribution within 500 feet of public property and within 1,000 feet of a school.

Additionally, Armstead is charged with three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two counts of Possession of Prohibited Devices related to the large-capacity magazines.

He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

The charges are accusations, and Armstead is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
