Cell phone store robbery spree ends with arrest of District Heights man tied to multi state warrants

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD — A 34-year-old District Heights man accused of targeting Verizon Wireless stores in Calvert County has been arrested and is now facing a long list of felony charges, authorities said.

Melsun Shamel Perry was taken into custody Feb. 10 in connection with two separate incidents at cell phone retail businesses in the county.

Investigators said the charges stem from alleged crimes committed Dec. 29 at the Verizon Wireless store in Dunkirk and Feb. 3 at the Verizon Wireless store in Lusby.

In Calvert County, Perry has been charged with Armed Robbery, Robbery, First- and Second-Degree Assault, Organized Retail Theft, Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,000, Fourth-Degree Burglary Tools and Theft, and Theft between $1,500 and under $25,000.

Authorities also revealed that Perry had more than 20 outstanding warrants from jurisdictions in Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland for similar offenses at the time of his arrest.

No additional details about the incidents were immediately released. The investigation remains ongoing.
