Police Chase Leads to Arrest of Two on Multiple Charges in Oakland

October 19, 2023

OAKLAND, NJ – On October 18, around 1pm, a grey 2023 Nissan Maxima caught the attention of Sgt. Michael Griffin when it erroneously entered an exit lane at the TD Bank on Ramapo Valley Road. The vehicle bore an illegible license plate, seemingly crafted from cardboard, and had heavily tinted windows.

Upon noticing police presence, the driver attempted to flee, leading officers on a chase eastward onto Long Hill Road, then onto Breakneck Road, before losing them.

The vehicle was later found in the Oakland Care Center parking lot by D/Sgt. Stephen Broek, now displaying a Florida license plate, the cardboard one discarded and torn to pieces nearby.

The driver, Krista Luckenbill (DOB 11/17/1987) of Pennsylvania, was apprehended while attempting to conceal a crack pipe in her shoe. Her companion, Tanya Thomas (DOB 12/11/1968) of Cleveland, OH, provided false personal information and was also arrested.

A search of the vehicle revealed multiple identifications from various states, stolen checks, banking records, narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and disguises. Luckenbill faces charges including DWI, Eluding, multiple counts of Forgery, ID Theft, Credit Card Fraud, and drug possession, among others. Thomas was charged with Hindering, multiple counts of Forgery, ID Theft, Credit Card Fraud, and other related charges. Both were taken to Bergen County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
