Two shootings hours apart leave woman and store clerk wounded in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA – Two separate shootings just hours apart left a woman and a store employee hospitalized after gunfire erupted in different parts of the city late Sunday night and early Monday morning.

The first incident happened around 11:10 p.m. Sunday inside the Bridge Market and Wireless store on the 2000 block of Bridge Street. Police say a man in a black hoodie and pants argued with a 27-year-old employee before pointing a gun through a window, forcing his way past a security door, and firing. The victim was struck in the face and robbed of cash before the suspect fled. Officers rushed the wounded clerk to Temple Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Just a few hours later, at 2:53 a.m. Monday, officers from the 39th District responded to a shooting inside a rooming house on the 4600 block of Wayne Avenue. Investigators said a 66-year-old woman was in a second-floor bathroom when she heard a gunshot outside the door and immediately felt pain. She had been struck in the abdomen but managed to call 911 for help. Police transported her to Temple Hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition.

Detectives are continuing to investigate both shootings. Authorities have not confirmed if the incidents are connected.
