May 31, 2025

DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. — Two 18-year-olds were arrested Saturday in connection to a suspicious death after human remains were discovered in a burned vehicle last week in a Davidsonville parking lot, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Police and fire crews responded around 9:25 p.m. on May 24 to a commercial property at 600 West Central Avenue where they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, authorities discovered human remains inside the car’s passenger compartment.

The body has not yet been identified. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death, though officials have ruled the death a homicide.

On Saturday, homicide detectives arrested Jonah Michael Poole, 18, of Davidsonville, and Kylee Alyssa Dakes, 18, of Harwood. Both were taken into custody at a residence in the unit block of Bethel Lane in Harwood.

The suspects face multiple charges, including first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit murder, and arson.

Investigation continues as victim remains unidentified

Authorities said the investigation progressed over the past week as detectives gathered evidence and identified suspects. “Investigators with the Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit worked tirelessly throughout the week to further this investigation,” officials stated.

The medical examiner’s office has not yet released a cause of death, pending further forensic examination.

The identity of the adult male victim remains unknown. Police are continuing efforts to confirm the identity and notify next of kin.
