Baltimore man charged with attempted murder in Central District shooting

BALTIMORE, MD — A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a Central District shooting that left a 30-year-old man wounded last month, according to Baltimore Police.

Deaontae Fleming, of Baltimore, was taken into custody on December 1 and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility. He faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, for the shooting that occurred on November 5 in the unit block of North Gay Street.

The investigation began after the victim, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, walked into police headquarters around 9:07 p.m. seeking help. He was transported to a nearby hospital and was listed in stable condition at the time.

Detectives identified the shooting scene as the unit block of North Gay Street and later developed Fleming as the suspect during the ongoing investigation. He is currently being held pending court proceedings.
