Video game console meetup turns into armed robbery in Glen Burnie

What began as a planned sale of a video game console ended with a victim being robbed at what police say was gunpoint before officers quickly identified and arrested the suspect.

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A Glen Burnie man has been arrested after police say he used a replica handgun to rob a man during what was supposed to be a video game console sale.

The robbery occurred at about 3 p.m. on July 10 in the area of Ellwell Court and Towne Road, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Investigators said the adult male victim had arranged to meet the suspect to purchase a video game console.

During the meeting, the suspect allegedly brandished a replica handgun, took the victim’s money and fled on foot.

With assistance from detectives, officers identified and located a suspect.

Police said the victim positively identified the suspect, leading to his arrest.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Ahjur Ja Kel Hotten of Glen Burnie.

Police have not released additional charging information.

The investigation remains ongoing.
