Several pedestrians were injured after two Atlantic City police officers on ATVs collided while attempting to board a Boardwalk tram near Casa Taco & Tequila Bar on the city's south end.

Atlantic City, NJ – Several people were injured on the Atlantic City Boardwalk after two police officers operating ATVs crashed near the Boardwalk tram stop outside Casa Taco & Tequila Bar on the south end of the Boardwalk.

Witnesses at the scene said the officers were attempting to cross the boardwalk as beachgoers were attempting to board the Atlantic City Boardwalk tram when the ATVs struck pedestrians before colliding with one another.

The impact caused both officers to be thrown from their vehicles as the ATVs overturned.

Atlantic City Police responded to the scene along with emergency medical personnel, who treated those involved. Authorities have not released the number of people injured or the extent of their injuries.

Officials also have not disclosed what led to the collision or whether the officers sustained serious injuries. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
