The incident was reported at approximately 4:49 p.m., when officers responded to a local hospital where the 36-year-old woman was being treated for injuries. She told investigators the assault began earlier in the morning when the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Hector Castro of Wilkes-Barre, returned to their shared residence.

According to the victim, Castro repeatedly punched her in the face, neck, and body, pulled her hair, and threatened her. During the altercation, he also reportedly damaged her cell phone and other personal belongings using a pair of scissors.

In a desperate attempt to flee, the victim climbed out of a second-story window and jumped to the ground. Despite suffering additional injuries from the fall, she was able to reach a neighbor’s home and call for help.
