WASHINGTON, D.C. – A woman has been apprehended by the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch in connection with a fatal stabbing incident in Southeast D.C.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. in the 900 block of 5th Street. Police, responding to a stabbing report, found a male victim with stab wounds. The victim, later taken to a local hospital, passed away on Saturday due to the injuries.
Officials identified the deceased as Charmaine Smith, a 71-year-old resident of Southeast D.C.
Linda Archie, 60, also from Southeast D.C., was detained on Tuesday. Archie faces charges of Assault with Intent to Kill. Further investigation is underway, with detectives coordinating with the United States Attorney’s Office to consider elevating the charges.
