Armed suspect arrested after police chase from Bethesda to White Oak

Montgomery County, MD – A police chase that began in Bethesda on Monday afternoon ended safely in White Oak after officers pursued a suspect accused of holding a woman against her will, authorities said.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, officers were called to Westlake Drive and Democracy Boulevard around 4:15 p.m. following reports that an “armed acquaintance” was allegedly restraining a woman inside a vehicle.

When officers located the car, the driver refused to stop, leading police on a pursuit that stretched through Bethesda and onto Interstate 495 before ending near Lockwood Drive in White Oak. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.

Police confirmed that the woman involved was not injured and that no officers or bystanders were harmed during the chase. Authorities have not released the suspect’s name or specific charges, and the investigation remains ongoing.
