Bike bandit busted fast after knocking woman down in Stamford robbery
Stamford, CT — A late-night robbery turned into a quick arrest after police flooded a Stamford neighborhood and tracked down a suspect accused of knocking a woman to the ground and stealing her bag.
Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. April 15 to West Broad Street for a reported robbery that had just occurred.
Investigators said the victim was walking eastbound on the sidewalk when a man riding a bicycle approached, grabbed her bag, and caused her to fall during the struggle before fleeing the scene.
Police quickly canvassed the area and located a suspect matching the description nearby. Following a search, officers took the individual into custody without incident.
The victim later identified the suspect, and her belongings were recovered.
Authorities identified the suspect as Walter Delgado, a Stamford resident. He faces charges including third-degree robbery, third-degree assault, third-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, and breach of peace.
Delgado was held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 2.
