Deputies investigate tampering at shopping center

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD — Deputies are searching for whoever damaged a vehicle in an apparent attempted theft at a Prince Frederick shopping center.

The incident was reported around 5:08 p.m. July 17 at Central Square Shopping Center, 141 Central Square Drive.

The vehicle owner told deputies the driver’s side door handle had been broken off and the window forced down.

Investigators also found pry marks around the door handle and damage to the steering column and ignition area.

The total cost of the damage has not yet been determined.

The investigation remains ongoing.
