12-Year-Old Boy Arrested Following Assault and Robbery in Baltimore

June 6, 2024

BALTIMORE, MD — A juvenile has been arrested in connection with an assault and attempted robbery that occurred on the evening of June 4 in the Central District. Baltimore Police responded to a distress call at approximately 7:54 p.m. in the 300 block of Light Street, where they encountered a moped rider who had been attacked.

The victim reported that while riding in the bike lane, a group of juveniles threw rocks and bottles at him, causing him to crash the moped. As he attempted to flee the scene, one of the assailants tried to seize the moped by grabbing its handlebars and demanding the vehicle. Despite their efforts, the suspects did not succeed in taking the moped and subsequently fled on foot.

Following a thorough area canvass by the officers, three possible suspects were located and detained. Among them, a 12-year-old male was positively identified by the victim and subsequently arrested. He has been transported to juvenile booking for processing.

The incident highlights ongoing issues with juvenile crime in the area, prompting a response from local law enforcement to address community safety concerns effectively.
