Hampton, VA – A 20-year-old man died after exiting his car during a late-night chain-reaction crash on Interstate 64 in Hampton, where he and his vehicle were struck again moments later, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash unfolded around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, on I-64 eastbound near Hampton Roads Center Parkway, involving at least five vehicles and leaving one driver dead and another seriously injured, state police said.
Multi-vehicle crash escalates after lane change
Virginia State Police said the sequence began when a Chevrolet pickup truck attempted a lane change and struck a Chevrolet SUV. The impact pushed the SUV into a jersey wall before it was hit by a Toyota Camry.
All three vehicles came to a stop in the travel lane, creating a hazardous scene for oncoming traffic.
Moments later, the situation turned fatal.
Freddy A. Villaman, 20, of Lake Worth, Florida, exited his Camry after the initial collision. While outside the vehicle, both Villaman and the car were struck by a white Infiniti. The Infiniti then continued forward and hit a white Jeep SUV, adding to the chain reaction.
Villaman died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.

Charges filed against two drivers
