Suspect charged for overnight shooting murder in Avalon

AVALON, PA – An adult male was found dead in his home this morning in Avalon. At approximately 12:44 am on January 22, 2022, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the 100 block of Prospect Street. First responders found an adult male victim deceased in a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Homicide detectives initiated an investigation.

The suspect in this homicide was identified as 32-year-old Samuel Lee Tolfa of Hopewell. He fled from responding officers and he was taken into custody after a brief pursuit.

County Police obtained and served an arrest warrant on Tolfa charging him with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, carrying a firearm without a license and fleeing to elude. Tolfa is currently lodged in the Allegheny County Jail.
