Jamaica man caught moving 144 pounds of marijuana through New Jersey

TEANECK, NJ – Police in Teaneck have arrested a man from Jamaica, Queens hauling 144 pounds of marijuana through New Jersey last week.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Adrian Diaz-Resendiz (DOB: 11/05/1991; single; employed as food prep worker) of 14115 Grand Central Parkway, Jamaica, NY on a drug offense. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On January 27, 2022, an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force revealed that Resendiz was transporting bulk shipments of marijuana through Bergen County. During this investigation, a search was conducted on a white-colored Dodge Ram pick-up truck in Teaneck, New Jersey. That search revealed approximately 144 packages of marijuana with a total weight of 144 pounds. Resendiz was arrested at the scene of the search.

Resendiz was charged with one count of first-degree possession of marijuana over 25 lbs. with the intent to distribute, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)a. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
