Driver Charged for Crack During Traffic Stop

CUMBERLAND, MD – A driver was charged for possession of crack cocaine during a traffic stop in Cumberland on Friday.

According to police, at approximately 4:30 PM an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department observed a traffic violation on Queen City Drive. The officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the operator Loren Robert Stoney. A K-9 was requested and alerted to the odor of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) in the vehicle.

Police said a probable cause search was conducted and a quantity of suspected crack cocaine was located. Mr. Stoney was placed under arrest and transported to the police station.

Mr. Stoney was issued a Criminal Citation for CDS Possession not Marijuana. Mr. Stoney signed for his copy of the citation and was released pending trial.
