Two Firefighters Injured in Perth Amboy House Fire

PERTH AMBOY, NJ – An afternoon house fire on Williams Street in Perth Amboy on Saturday resulted in two firefighters being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Perth Amboy Fire Department, the report of a fire at a two-family residential house was engulfed in heavy smoke when firefighters arrived at around 1 pm.

A second alarm went out as the fire spread.

“Crews found heavy fire in the basement which had extended up to the attic via the balloon frame bays,” the Perth Amboy Fire Department said. “Multiple hose lines were stretched to attack the fire while searches were completed and all occupants were accounted for.”

The department said heavy fire conditions had forced all crews to be withdrawn and operations went defensive, to contain and extinguish the fire.

Two firefighters were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Six occupants were displaced by the fire, which is under investigation by the PAFD Fire Investigation Unit. The home was completely gutted by the fire.
