Child Brought Holstered Toy Gun To Lakewood School

by Charlie Dwyer

LAKEWOOD, NJ – A child brought a holstered toy gun into school in an undisclosed Lakewood school and today, Chief Greg Meyer explained why that’s not such a great idea.

The gun, according to Meyer looked real and had the weight of a real gun. The gun was confiscated by school workers and disciplinary actions are expected against the child by the school.

“When a law officer sees this, there’s a split second to make a decision, is that a real gun or is that a real gun,” Chief Meyer said. “Although it’s a toy, it’s carried in a manner of being a real concealed weapon. Please, if you have a toy like this. Don’t take it out of the house. Don’t bring it to school. Leave it at home, somebody can get injured.”
