PITTSBURGH, PA – Gunshot rang out near a south side bar Saturday night and security guards working at the bar detained the suspected shooter and held him in custody until police could arrive,

Pittsburgh Police arrested 25-year-old Jmel Jones in connection with that shooting incident on the South Side on August 13.

“Jones is charged with Criminal Attempt Homicide, Aggravated Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person,” Pittsburgh police said in a statement. “Pittsburgh Police responded to a Shotspotter alert for the 1200 block of Roland Way at 11:20 p.m.”

When officers arrived on scene, they observed a bar security guard who detained an armed individual at 13th and E Carson.

Officers located a gunshot victim at the intersection of 12th and Sarah streets. Medics transported that victim to a local hospital in critical condition.
