Utica, New York- police officers in Utica were dispatched last week to the 1300 block of Bleeker St regarding a burglary in progress call.

After police arrived through their investigation, they learned that the two suspects were juveniles.

“Upon arrival the first responding units noticed two parties within the building and ultimately were able to taken both into custody. The parties were then learned to be 15 years of age and 17 years of age,” police said.

Police said upon taking the two teens into custody, the officers located a broken window which appeared to have been damaged by a rock, and it is presumed that this was the point of entry.

“As they walked through the premise they noticed that the apartment led into a commercial establishment, and both places had drawers and items that appeared to have been opened and rifled through. Furthermore, one of the juveniles had proceeds from the establishment on his person,” UPD reported.

Once at the Utica Police Department an investigator with the Juvenile Aid Unit handled the investigation and following the conclusion, both were charged with Burglary 2nd/Petit Larceny.

Their cases will proceed through the Oneida County Family Court system.
