Teen girl shot and killed in Brooklyn apartment building lobby

NEW YORK, NY – A teenage girl was shot and killed Monday night inside an East New York apartment building. Police said Raelynn Cameron, 17, of Far Rockaway, Queens was shot in the chest inside the lobby at the building on Elder Lane at around 10:55 pm.

Investigators with the New York City Police Department said today that Cameron was with a group of friends inside an apartment in the building when they were holding a gun. It is not certain at this time whether the shooting was intended or accidental.

Police are continuing their investigating, questioning the teens who were in the room at the time of the shooting.

She was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made at this time.
