Vandalizing activists who defaced Central Park Columbus statue sought by NYPD

NEW YORK, NY – Police are searching for two suspects who vandalized the Central Park statue of Christopher Columbus last weekend.

Police released photos of the suspects today and are asking the public to assist in identifying them.

According to police, the suspect defiled the statue that sits in a square outside the southwest entrance to the park at Columbus Circle.

They used red spraypaint to deface the statue, writing “Murderer” and “Give Us Our Land Back” on the statue.

They fled on foot, but not before being captured on video surveillance cameras trained on the statue.
