Warrant arrest leads to illegal firearm in Dorchester

by Leo Canega

BOSTON, MA – Yesterday, at around 6:09 PM, members of the Boston Police Department (BPD) Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Adedamola Agbedun, 21, of Dorchester, in the area of 26 Hiawatha Road in Mattapan. Agbedun was wanted on an outstanding warrant sought out of Quincy District Court for two counts of Attempted Larceny.

When officers approached Agbedun and attempted to place him in custody, he actively resisted arrest. During the brief struggle, one officer felt a hard metal object inside Agbedun’s jacket pocket, which they believed to be a firearm.

Additional officers arrived on the scene, and Agbedun was taken into custody. A loaded .22 caliber Keltec P17 handgun was safely recovered from his jacket. The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and fifteen rounds in a large capacity magazine.

Agbedun will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Resisting Arrest.
