Victim fled home invader after being pinned to ground

DOYLESTOWN, PA – Matthew William Smith, 34, was arrested on Tuesday, after entering a victim’s apartment and assaulting them at Center Square Towers in Doylestown Borough.

Smith, who was known to the victim, had entered the apartment the previous night and pinned the victim to the ground before hitting them in the head multiple times.

The victim was able to flee the apartment and returned the following day, only to find Smith still inside. Police responded to the scene and took Smith into custody.

He was arraigned, with bail set at $50,000 and conditions. Smith was remanded to Bucks County Prison and now faces charges of simple assault, defiant trespass, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
