Firefighters climb three stories to save trapped kitten in NYC’s West Village

NEW YORK, NY – Overnight, firefighters from the FDNY’s Ladder 5 climbed three stories to save a kitten trapped on top of an external window air conditioning unit. Despite their best efforts, as firefighters neared the kitten, the young feline panicked and jumped.

Bystanders screamed in horror when the kitten fell, but its fall was broken by an awning above a business on the first floor.

The incident happened on McDougal Street in the West Village.

Firefighters cleared the scene shortly afterward. A video of the incident was published on Twitter.
