TRENTON, NJ – Salvatore Oldrati, a Mantua Township police officer, has been indicted by a state grand jury on a charge of manslaughter on Tuesday. The charge stems from an incident on September 14, 2021, when Charles Sharp III, a 49-year-old resident of Mantua, was shot and fatally injured by Oldrati.

Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced that the indictment was a result of findings that Oldrati fired his service weapon at Sharp without issuing any verbal warnings or commands. The grand jury determined this conduct to be unjustified. If convicted, Oldrati could face up to 10 years in prison.
