Woman’s body found by police in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, NJ – The body of a woman was found inside her home in Lakewood by police who were asked to perform a well check on the woman.

The suspicious death in Lakewood Township has prompted an active investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, the Lakewood Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

On Tuesday, officers from the Lakewood Township Police responded to a residence on Thornbury Court for a wellness check and discovered the body of a deceased female.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer noted that this is an ongoing investigation and the death is being treated as suspicious. He reassured the public that there is no immediate danger to the community. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
