Brazen thief using Citibike to rob victims of expensive headphones in Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is investigating a pattern of grand larcenies within the 19th and 20th Precincts. The incidents took place in April 2023, involving an unknown individual on a gray Citibike removing headphones from unsuspecting victims.

The first reported larceny occurred on Thursday, April 6, 2023, with subsequent incidents taking place on Monday, April 24, 2023. The victims, all female, ranged in age from 20 to 39 years old. The combined value of the stolen property amounts to approximately $1,595.

The perpetrator, described as a 25-year-old male of medium complexion, was last seen wearing a black mask, hooded sweatshirt, and pants. He was also carrying a black book bag.
