Juveniles Arrested After Leading Troopers on Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle

NEW CASTLE, DE – Early Tuesday morning, Delaware State Police arrested two Wilmington juveniles, aged 14 and 16, following a vehicle pursuit.

At approximately 1:21 am, troopers located a stolen silver 2022 Toyota Highlander with Florida registration in the parking lot of the Budget Inn located at 3 Memorial Drive, New Castle. Upon being detected, the vehicle hastily left the lot and began travelling westbound on Memorial Dr, initiating a pursuit which ended when the vehicle lost control and struck a fence on South Heald Street.

The juveniles fled on foot but were apprehended soon after. The stolen vehicle was initially reported by the Wilmington Police Department.

The minors were transported to Troop 2 and charged. The 14-year-old was charged with several offenses, including disregarding a police officer signal and receiving stolen property over $1,500. He was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on an $8,250 secured bond. The 16-year-old was charged with resisting arrest and was released to a guardian.
