NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is asking for public help in identifying a male connected to an attempted robbery incident in the 20th Precinct.

On Saturday, around 11:35 PM, an unidentified male approached a 42-year-old woman near Broadway and West 79 Street. After requesting a lighter for his cigarette, the individual started to strike the woman on the face and arm in an attempt to snatch her bag.

However, he was unable to secure the bag and fled eastbound on West 79 Street.

The victim, who didn’t require medical aid post-incident, described the perpetrator as balding, of medium complexion, wearing a blue jacket with text and a yellow shirt.
