Man Arrested After Armed Standoff Amid Mental Health Crisis

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – On Wednesday, Atlantic City Police Department officers arrested a man who reportedly held a woman hostage at gunpoint during a mental health crisis. Troy Williams, 45, was arrested at the scene without incident after police surrounded the residence on the 300 block of Rosemont Place.

Upon the police’s arrival, the victim managed to escape the premises. Officer Jonathan Walsh subsequently negotiated with Williams, convincing him to surrender. Williams was found in possession of cocaine. During the incident, Williams had brandished a handgun at the victim. A court-ordered search warrant led to the recovery of two handguns from the residence.

Williams faces multiple charges, including unlawful weapon possession, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and possession of controlled substances. He has been taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
