QUEENS, NY – Tamir Khan, a 22-year-old from Richmond Hill, was arraigned in Queens Supreme Court on multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide, stemming from a fatal collision on June 5 that resulted in the deaths of two South Ozone Park residents.
On the early morning of June 5, around 4:24 am, Khan reportedly drove his Audi A4 at high speeds, failing to stop at an intersection stop sign on 117th Street and 111th Avenue.
Khan collided with a Toyota Camry, causing it to spin out and hit a utility pole. The collision claimed the lives of the Camry’s driver, Inderdeo John, 64, and passenger Charles Harris, 71, both of South Ozone Park.
Khan, who returned to the accident site about 30 minutes after the collision, admitted to driving the vehicle. An intoxilyzer test revealed Khan’s blood alcohol content to be .09 percent, above the legal threshold.
The Audi’s windshield and driver’s side window tinting were found to be below the legal transmittance limit. Khan’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 7.
